Cinema exhibitor, PVR INOX Ltd, has announced its plans to expand its large format offering by adding two more superplexes this year. The company recently opened a 12-screen superplex in Bengaluru, which offers multiple cinema formats, bringing its total screen count to 158 across 25 cinemas in the city.
A superplex, or cinema hall with 10 or more screens, provides various formats and experiences under one roof in mega malls. These malls have spacious floor areas, allowing for a diverse range of movie options.
“Bengaluru has always been a special market for us, with a high movie-going propensity. The city’s residents watch movies in multiple languages and genres, making it our best-performing city. We are continuously seeking growth opportunities in Bengaluru,” stated Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, the Executive Director of PVR INOX Ltd.
The newly opened superplex in Bengaluru features 12 screens with a total seating capacity of 2,192.
When asked about the company’s plans for superplex expansion across India, Bijli revealed, “This year, we will be launching two more superplexes, one each in Bengaluru and Pune.” PVR INOX Ltd currently operates seven superplexes across the country.
Bijli emphasized that superplexes are transforming the entertainment landscape with cutting-edge cinema concepts and tailored hospitality experiences.
With the addition of the new superplex in Bengaluru, PVR INOX now boasts a total of 542 screens across 96 properties, solidifying its presence in the southern region of India.
