Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth share their thoughts on The Hunger Games franchise

The next instalment from The Hunger Games franchise, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, will arrive in a matter of weeks. The prequel film directed by Francis Lawrence features Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, Hunter Schafer, Peter Dinklage and others. Now, the cast has shared details about the upcoming film.

Opening up about her character, Rachel Zegler said, “I’ve always been a huge Hunger Games fan. Lucy Gray is such a compelling character and she’s kind of a breeding ground for what Katniss becomes 65 years later.”

Tom Blyth shared his thoughts on the YA genre and said, “When I was auditioning, I read the book Ballads of Songbirds and Snakes and was hooked. A world that is more than just a young adult fiction world. It’s packed with a bunch of real-world issues within the kind of entertainment of YA.”

The Hunger Games

The Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes is set around 65 years before the first Hunger Games film led by Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen. The film will chronicle the workings of the Capitol, Coriolanus Snow’s rise to power and Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be released on November 17, 2023.
