Rajinikanth’s Jailer notches up two more box office records as it crosses Rs 500 crore mark

Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ has notched up two records on its way to grossing Rs 500 crore at the box office. Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan in a post on social media platform X said ‘Jailer’ has grossed Rs 500 crore on the 10th day of the release, making it third film from Kollywood to enter this club after 2.0 and Ponniyin Selvan. ‘Jailer’ is the second fastest film of Kollywood to enter this club after 2.0.

In another post on X, Manobala Vijayabalan said that ‘Jailer’ has created new record by becoming the third film from Kollywood to cross $20 million at the overseas box office, after 2.0 and Ponniyin Selvan. 2.0 – in just 10 days, the analyst wrote.

Commenting on the magic of ‘Jailer’ at the box office, another trade expert Ramesh Bala said: “Rajinikanth is a Superstar. The ‘Superstar’ tag alone is enough to garner it all the attention it needs. And then, he also benefits from worldwide recognition.”

Rajinikanth’s persona in the movie is that of an old jailer hunting down a notorious gang lord and mercilessly eliminating his gang members.
Rajinikanth today offered prayers to Lord Hanuman at Ayodhya. The actor’s visit comes at a time when his film ‘Jailer’ is performing well at the box office. Earlier, Rajinikanth met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his residence in Lucknow.The veteran actor also met Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav at the latter’s residence in Lucknow. ‘Jailer”s star cast also includes Priyanka Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayakan in prominent roles. The makers have roped in Malayalam actor Mohanlal for an extended cameo in the film.The actor’s song “Kaavaalaa” from “Jailer” also went viral of social media. Ambassador of Japan to India Hiroshi Suzuki, whose video of dancing to the song “Kaavaalaa” went viral on social media. Suzuki shared the 17-second clip on his official X page, in which he can be seen shaking a leg to the popular Tamil track — originally featuring Rajinikanth and Tamannaah Bhatia — with Japanese YouTuber Mayo.
