Redmi 13 5G India launch is on July 9: Here is everything we already know about the phone

Xiaomi India is gearing up to launch its budget-friendly Redmi 13 5G smartphone. The company confirmed that the official unveiling will take place on July 9. The Redmi 13 5G is set to succeed last year’s Redmi 12 5G, which was released in August. You can read our quick review of the Redmi 13 5G. With its recent listing on Amazon India, we’ve gained insights into the smartphone’s design, chipset, and battery specifications.

We already know that the Redmi 13 5G retains the boxy design of its predecessor but with refined aesthetics. The dual rear camera setup is housed in a design that comes in pink and blue color options. The Amazon listing highlighted a “Crystal Glass design,” which suggests a premium feel despite its budget-friendly positioning.

Although specific details about the display haven’t been revealed, it is hinted that the Redmi 13 5G will feature one of the largest displays in its price segment. It will sport a punch-hole notch design and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Given that the Redmi 12 5G had a 6.79-inch LCD screen, the new model is expected to feature a similar or slightly larger display.

The Redmi 13 5G is confirmed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, the same chipset used in the Redmi 12 5G. While its predecessor operated on MIUI 14, the new model will debut with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS, promising an enhanced user experience.

The device will pack a robust 5,030mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging, ensuring quick power-ups and extended usage times.

The Redmi 13 5G is anticipated to be priced under Rs 15,000, similar to the Redmi 12 5G, which started at Rs 10,999. The exact pricing will be disclosed during the launch event on July 9 at 12 PM.

While we await the full details of the Redmi 13 5G, a look back at the Redmi 12 5G’s specifications provides a glimpse of what to expect. The Redmi 12 5G featured a glass back panel, giving it a premium look and feel uncommon in its price range. It had an infinite camera deco at the top left, with silver metallic rims surrounding the lenses, and weighed around 198.5g.

The Redmi 12 5G came with a 6.79-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen had a punch-hole notch design and slim bezels on three sides. For photography, it included a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel front camera.

Debuting the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor in India, the Redmi 12 5G promised smooth performance. The Redmi 13 5G will continue to use this chipset, ensuring reliable processing power. The Redmi 12 5G’s 5,000mAh battery supported 18W charging via a Type-C USB port, and the new model’s increased 33W fast charging is a notable improvement.
