Gunfire Games has unveiled a new character class for Remnant 2, specifically designed for the datamining community to discover.
According to Forbes, Ben Cureton, the principal designer of Remnant 2, stated that the developer couldn’t discourage datamining of the Soulslike shooter. This genre often attracts players who dig through the game’s code and experiment in the world to uncover hidden secrets.
To unlock the Archon in #Remnant2, one must penetrate the code itself.
We knew we couldn’t stop datamining, so we leaned into it and created an entire Archetype that could be shared with the community once revealed by those with the ability to see between worlds. pic.twitter.com/EOAqmAoX4r

“We knew we couldn’t stop datamining, so we embraced it and created a complete Archetype that could be shared with the community once discovered by those with the ability to traverse different dimensions,” said Ben Cureton.
In Remnant 2, there are 10 classes that determine the player’s available builds. The recently revealed Archon, however, is a class focused on support and utility. To unlock it, players must meet specific requirements:
- Reach level 5 with the Invader archetype and activate the Worm Hole skill
- Reach level 10 with the Explorer archetype and activate the Fortune Hunter skill
- Amulet: Leto’s Amulet
- Amber Moonstone
- Ring: Anastasija’s Inspiration
- Ring: Zania’s Malice
- Ring: Black Cat Band
- Armor: Realmwalker Armor
- Long Gun: Ford’s Scattergun
- Handgun: Cube Gun
- Melee Weapon: Labyrinth Staff
- Relic: Void Heart
Once the player possesses the above items and wears them, they can open the corrupted door in the Labyrinth in Remnant 2. Inside, they will discover the Strange Box, which grants them the ability to play as an Archon.
The decision to hide this character class in this manner has received significant praise from fans and other game designers. Collin MacGregor, associate world designer on Bungie’s Marathon, commented, “It reminds me of the way older Easter eggs would be teased in gaming magazines for the community to find,” in a post on X.
In other gaming news, it comes as no surprise that PC players cracked the closed network test of Tekken 8. In response, Bandai Namco has warned of possible pre-release bans.
