Blizzard has unveiled four different Malignant Heart types for Diablo 4’s Season of the Malignant, a new mechanic introduced in the upcoming Season 1.
The first season, Season of the Malignant, will begin on July 20th. A patch, which includes support for the season along with various improvements, fixes, and potentially some much-needed nerfs, will be released on July 18th. During the Season, players will encounter elite enemies affected by the malignant. Defeating these enemies twice will grant players a Malignant Heart, powerful items that can be socketed into armor and weapons like gems, but with even greater power.
Prior to the start of the first season, Blizzard has now unveiled four Malignant Heart types on Twitter: the Vicious Heart, the Brutal Heart, the Devious Heart, and the Wrathful Heart. Each heart type can be obtained by defeating the same malignant monster type. Additionally, these hearts can also be crafted through Cormond’s Wagon.

In addition, the development team has confirmed that Season 1 will feature a total of 32 Malignant Hearts. Some hearts will provide universal bonuses, while others will be exclusive to specific classes. The Wrathful Heart, for example, grants the Malignant Pact power, while the Vicious Heart grants Focused Rage.
