Salaar box office collection day 2: Prabhas’ film records massive drop, but will pass Rs 250 crore worldwide today | Telugu News

ThePrabhas-starrer Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire made history with its record-shattering opening at the box office. After minting Rs 90 crore on its opening day of release, director Prashanth Neel’s film recorded a drop of more than 60 percent on the second day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Salaar has collected Rs 55 crore (early estimates) on Saturday. The total collection of the film in India now stands at Rs 145.70 crores.

The action-thriller recorded the biggest opening for an Indian film this year, out-performing Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathan, Vijay’s Leo, and Rajinikanth’s Jailer. Salaar’s Rs 179 crore global debut was also significantly higher than the Rs 140 crore that Prabhas’ infamous flop, Adipurush, grossed globally on opening day. While Pathaan earned Rs 57 crore on its first day in India, Jawan and Animal reported openings of Rs 75 crore and Rs 63 crore, respectively.

After Adipurush failed to perform well at the box office, Prabhas’ fans pinned all their hope on Salaar. The film clashed with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki at the box office. Director Rajkumar’s film was released in theatres on December 21 and Salaar was released on December 22. Unlike SRK’s previous hits like Jawan and Pathaan, Dunki is struggling at the box office, with around Rs 75 crore in domestic revenue in three days.

Salaar, on the other hand, had an overall 75.64 percent Telugu occupancy on Saturday. According to market analyst Ramesh Bala, Salaar has minted Rs 16 crore from the Hindi version on Saturday. Salaar also stars Prithviraj Sukumarn and Shruti Hassan in pivotal roles. The film will be released in two parts. Neel recently revealed if Salaar is a remake of his Kannada film Ugramm.

Prabhas is desperate for a win. After delivering the two blockbuster Baahubali films, the actor starred in a string of high-profile bombs such as Saaho, Radhe Shyam and Adipurush. After Salaar, he’ll star in Kalki 2898 AD, reportedly the most expensive Indian film ever produced. He’ll also star in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, and reprise his role as Salaar in a second installment.
