The next edition of Samsung’s major hardware announcement event––the Galaxy Unpacked––might take place on July 10, as per the latest report by The Chosun Daily, a South Korean publication. This time around, the physical launch event is tipped to be held in Paris, just in time for the Olympics 2024. The previous one was hosted in the company’s home market, South Korea.
At the event, Samsung is likely to unveil its next-generation foldables––the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6––along with the highly anticipated Galaxy Ring, a smart wearable, which was first teased during the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, and the same was also showcased at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024.
The same report highlights that the upcoming Galaxy ZFlip 6 and the Galaxy ZFold 6 will be thinner than their predecessors. The brand is also likely to announce a host of other accessories such as the Galaxy Watch 7 series, and the flagship Watch 7 Ultra, and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.
Not just hardware, these new foldables might also pack new features, specifically new generative AI capabilities. There are also reports that we might see a special Paris Olympic edition of these devices as we have seen with earlier Samsung flagship smartphones.
Competition in the world of foldables has toughened in the last few years, where Samsung once had sheer dominance. More Android smartphone brands such as OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Honor among others are now getting into the foldable smartphone bandwagon, with Vivo being the latest brand to introduce its foldable in India, touted to be the thinnest in the world.
