In an interview, the director of Secret Invasion, Ali Salem, described the series as “a big love story” that delves into Nick Fury’s emotional journey. He said, “I believe it’s a grand love story. Nick is exploring his love for many people. The most challenging aspect is his love for a Skrull whom he fell in love with and married. He battles with his sense of being different, both as a Black man in America and as an aging man in a world that values physical fitness. Nick is constantly grappling with his sense of otherness while dealing with a love story that he’s never fully reconciled.”
