Reports that actor Sonakshi Sinha is planning to get married to her longtime partner, actor Zaheer Iqbal, broke a few days ago. Sonakshi is reportedly all set to tie the knot with Zaheer on June 23 in Mumbai. However, her father, actor and politician Shatrugahn Sinha, has said that he is still “waiting to be informed” about his daughter’s wedding plans. Shatrughan Sinha was busy with the general elections until recently.
The veteran actor, who is in Delhi right now, told Times Now that he has not yet spoken to anyone about his daughter’s wedding plans. “Main bhi utna hi jaanta hoon jitna media mein maine padha hai (l only know what I’ve read in the news),” he said. Shatrughan also said that as and when Sonakshi tells him and his wife Poonam about her plans to get married, the two will bless the couple. “We wish her all happiness always,” he said.
Shatrughan also said that he trusts his daughter’s judgement completely and is convinced that “she would never make an extra-constitutional or illegal decision.” He said, “As a consenting adult, she has the right to make her own decisions.” He also expressed his happiness, and said that whenever his daughter gets married, he will be “dancing right in front of the baaraat (wedding procession).”
Shatrughan then expressed despair about being out of the loop about his daughter’s big life decision. He shared that he is being asked by people close to him why he is not aware of her wedding plans, while the media seems to know more about her big day. “All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (Nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents). We are waiting to be informed.”
According to reports doing rounds on the internet, Sonakshi and Zaheer, who have been dating for a few years now, will be tying the knot on June 23 in Mumbai.
