Sony Experiments with Cloud Streaming for ‘Supported’ PS5 Games; PlayStation Plus Unveils June Titles

Sony has recently commenced testing cloud streaming for supported PS5 games. This feature will be exclusively available to PS Plus Premium/Deluxe members, allowing them to directly stream select PS5 games without the need for downloading. The current phase of the plan is still in its early stages, with no confirmed titles as of yet. However, PlayStation assures gamers that they will offer as many games as possible through this streaming service. This announcement follows Sony’s introduction of Project Q, their latest handheld device that also utilizes similar technology. Furthermore, the company has shared an extensive list of 27 free games that will be available this month to PS Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers.

“We see a growing trend in mobile gaming habits, and the cloud will play a fundamental role in capitalizing on that trend,” stated Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), during an interview. He promises aggressive plans for cloud gaming. Sony previously experimented with cloud gaming through PlayStation Now, which later became part of the revamped PS Plus subscription. The unveiling of their Project Q handheld device took place during the recent PlayStation Showcase event. The device features an 8-inch 1080p screen with a button layout and analog sticks reminiscent of the PS5 DualSense controller. It will enable users to stream games from their PS5 consoles either via Remote Play or Wi-Fi and is scheduled for release next year, explaining this new development.
