The 2023 study reveals surprising rankings for the worst states to live and work in.

The United States of America is renowned for its exceptional public facilities and opportunities. However, it is crucial to acknowledge that certain areas require improvement. CNBC conducts an annual study to rank states based on essential factors such as access to public amenities, healthcare services, and other facilities. The 2023 study has revealed surprising rankings for the worst states to live and work in.

  1. Texas faces significant weaknesses, including the highest percentage of people without health insurance, ranking thirteen in terms of crime rates, and criticism for laws targeting the LGBTQ+ community and voting rights restrictions.
  2. Oklahoma faces challenges in areas such as drug abuse and lack of health insurance coverage. However, the state maintains good air quality, promoting a healthy environment for its residents.
  3. Louisiana lags behind in providing quality childcare facilities. The limited number of licensed childcare centers, only 76 for a population of 4.6 million, places the state at the bottom of the list. Local authorities have allocated $44 million to improve the accessibility and quality of childcare services.
  4. South Carolina raises concerns about workplace safety with the nation’s fifth-highest rate of occupational deaths. Additionally, the state’s high crime rate further impacts safety conditions.
  5. Alabama faces challenges in terms of health and voting accessibility, making it one of the unhealthiest states in the US. However, the state ranks among the top in air quality, providing residents with cleaner and healthier environments.
