Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s much-anticipated movie, Gadar 2, hit the theaters on August 11, after a long wait of 22 years. The sequel has not disappointed fans and has already raked in over Rs 80 crore in just two days. It is predicted to surpass the Rs 100 crore mark on Sunday and will likely cross the Rs 200 crore mark by the end of its first week, aided by the Independence Day holiday.
In an exclusive interview with Times Now, lead star Sunny Deol expressed his joy and surprise at the film’s success. He said, “I’m extremely happy. When we decided to make Gadar 2, we never expected such immense love from the audience. It’s been two whole generations since the first Gadar, and yet people are as excited as they were back then. I am amazed and very, very happy. We need successful movies to sustain the film industry.”

Despite facing tough competition from Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s OMG 2, Gadar 2 managed to shine and perform just as well as its predecessor. When asked about this, Sunny Deol humbly said, “Yes, I know. It’s God’s blessing and the love of the people.”

About the film
Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 features Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles from the original film. The sequel continues the story of Tara Singh and Sakina after India’s independence. During the ‘Crush India’ campaign in 1971, their son gets imprisoned in Pakistan, compelling Tara Singh to travel to the neighboring country and rescue him.
