Swedish DJ-inspired: Nothing Phone 2 Enables Remixing of Glyph Ringtones

We are just days away from the highly anticipated launch of the Nothing Phone 2, set to take place on July 11, 2023. The company has promised an exciting sequel to its original budget-friendly artistic phone. Even current Nothing Phone 1 owners have something to be excited about, as the new phone will feature collaborations with the renowned Swedish DJ supergroup, Swedish House Mafia. This partnership will introduce new ringtone and light pattern options for the upcoming device.

One of the group’s members, DJ Sebastian Ingrosso, shared a video on Twitter demonstrating the use of his signature sounds and effects on Nothing’s new Glyph Composer tool. Glyphs refer to the unique LED light patterns found on the back of the Nothing Phone (1). This video confirms that the Nothing Phone 2 will feature a similar pattern, though potentially with some variations.

The Glyph Composer operates similarly to a standard beat mixer, allowing users to tap symbols to activate corresponding sounds while recording their tracks. The video showcases an increased number of glyph lights on the new phone compared to the current model, but specific design changes are still unclear.

Based on these hints, we can expect the Nothing Phone 2 to bear a close resemblance to its predecessor in terms of overall design. The LED glyph on the back will offer more versatility with additional divided sections, but there doesn’t appear to be a significant increase in the number of lights or any new functionalities.

Alongside the release of the Nothing Phone 2 on July 11, the Glyph Composer tool and a Glyph Sound Pack featuring Swedish House Mafia will be introduced. While the Glyph Composer will be made available for Nothing Phone 1 devices, it seems that the new Glyph Sound Pack will be exclusive to the Phone 2.

Nothing has done an impressive job of keeping details about their upcoming phone under wraps. Most of the information we have comes from the CEO of Nothing, Carl Pei, or third-party partners like Qualcomm. Pei recently shared a screenshot of his phone’s home screen, leading fans to speculate if it includes subtle hints about the Phone 2.

Qualcomm, on the other hand, inadvertently revealed that the next Nothing phone would feature one of their top-tier processors. Nothing later confirmed that the new phone will indeed utilize the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. This same platform was recently incorporated into Motorola’s high-end Razr Plus 2023, highlighting its exceptional performance capabilities.

In the coming days, we can expect to learn more about the Nothing Phone 2, including potentially pricing details. Rumors suggest that the new phone may have a significantly higher price tag compared to its more affordable predecessor. However, CEO Pei playfully disputed these rumors on Twitter, leaving the true meaning of his statement open to interpretation.

As we eagerly await the launch of the Nothing Phone 2, stay tuned for more news and updates. We will be closely following this exciting development.
