Take-Two CEO says $50 for ‘Red Dead Redemption’ port is ‘great value’

Great news for those who were taken aback by the $50 price tag of the 13-year-old Red Dead Redemption release for Nintendo Switch and PS4. Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two, assures us that the price is justified. In an interview with IGN, Zelnick explains that the decision was based on commercial accuracy, and he unequivocally stands by it. Are you satisfied now?

There are several points of frustration regarding the price of Red Dead Redemption. These include the absence of a multiplayer option, a lack of significant updates since its 2010 release (no 4K visuals), and the fact that the game is already available on Xbox Series X in 4K for $40.

Take-Two justifies the higher price by including the Undead Nightmare expansion in the port. Zelnick describes “Undead Nightmare” as a fantastic standalone game in its own right, and believes that bundled with the original game, it offers great value for consumers.

If the CEO’s explanation has convinced you to spend $50 on Red Dead Redemption, the digital version will be available for Nintendo Switch and PS4 starting from August 17th, with a physical release following on October 13th.
