Team Top-G Emerge as DOTA 2 Champions at NESC 2023 to Earn a Spot at Regional Qualifiers

Team Top-G has won the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023, which served as a stepping stone to earn a place for the regional qualifiers of the Global Esports Games (GEG) 2023. Now, Team Top-G has to compete against Malaysia and Mongolia to head to the GEG2023 finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Manav Kunte (mnz) led this Dota 2 team which consists of Krish Gupta (Krish-), Khaja Hussain (Pinkman), Ketan Goyal (Evil-ash), Vishal Vernekar (Hbk) and substitute Darshan Bata (A35). Team Top-G defeated The Mob by 2-0 in the NESC 2023 finals, which was played under the best-of-three format. Team Top-G bested The Mob in the first match by 51-32, and then dominated in the second match with a 24-6 score. Vishal and Ketan, members of Top-G, were also part of the iconic team that won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Esports Championships in 2022 for India.

GEG2023 will take place in Riyadh from December 11 to 16 and will have DOTA 2, Street Fighter, eFootball 2023, and PUBG Mobile as the competing titles. India is set to take part in DOTA 2, eFootball 2023, and Street Fighter 6 under the Open category.

NESC 2023 is organised by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI). Qualifiers for eFootball 2023 and Street Fighter 6 started on September 9 and are played in a double-elimination format. The Street Fighter 6 grand finals took place yesterday between Mayank Prajapati (MiKeYROG) and Prateek Singh Bhaunt (b_HAUNT), where Prajapati emerged as the winner after a 3-1 score.
