The Telangana government has declared tomorrow, February 8 as a holiday. On the occasion of the Shab-e-Meraj festival of Muslims, schools will remain closed in the state. In the school holiday calendar released by the government, February 8 has been declared as a holiday for Shab-e-Meraj.
Shab-e-Meraj is considered an auspicious day by Muslims. On that day these, mosques are decorated with lamps. They keep vigil all night and pray. On February 8 (Thursday) being a general holiday, government offices and schools have been declared a holiday.
Furthermore, the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have declared March 8 as a school holiday on the occasion of Mahashivratri. Students will get three consecutive days of holiday as Mahashivratri falls on a Friday while the next two days are Saturday and Sunday.
Telangana schools got a six-day break from January 12 to January 17, 2024, due to Sankranti. A Hindu festival that marks the onset of the harvest season, Sankranti is celebrated with much pomp and enthusiasm across the country.
