At this restaurant in Japan, an epic creation has been named the ‘Kiwami Omakase’ course, consisting of a platter of 20 sushi pieces.

Prepare yourself for a unique sushi experience unlike any other! Located in Osaka, Japan, a renowned restaurant has recently earned the prestigious ‘Guinness World Record’ for serving the most expensive sushi in the world. Brace yourself as we delve into the details of this extraordinary culinary accomplishment.

Sushi, the delectable Japanese delicacy, has garnered fans from around the globe. With its diverse variations, it’s no wonder that it often comes with a hefty price tag. However, Sushi Kirimon, an establishment situated in Osaka, Japan, is rewriting the norms of opulent dining by shattering all previous records with its exorbitantly priced sushi. This breathtaking creation is aptly named the “Kiwami Omakase” course, featuring a platter of 20 meticulously crafted sushi pieces.

According to the official Guinness World Records (GWR) website, this esteemed title has been held by the restaurant since July 25, 2023.

The secrets behind the exorbitant price of the Kiwami Omakase course at Sushi Kirimon lie in its diverse selection of fish and seafood. It showcases Pacific bluefin tuna, chum salmon, bigfin reef squid, Japanese tiger prawn, conger eel, sea urchins, and even the rare and exotic hairy crab. Additionally, a touch of luxury is added with whale meat sourced from the bountiful waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. To elevate the presentation, a sprinkling of gold leaf provides the final flourish, as stated on the restaurant’s official website.

Furthermore, the dish incorporates a few ingredients sourced from other nations, such as matsutake mushrooms from China and black truffles from Italy. The preparation of Kiwami Omakase utilizes ancient and traditional Japanese methods, with the aim of promoting “Washoku,” which translates to “traditional Japanese cuisine,” as highlighted by the restaurant.

To indulge in a single helping of the esteemed Kiwami Omakase dish at Sushi Kirimon, one must be willing to pay over 350,000 Japanese Yen or more than 2 lakh Indian rupees. Prior to this, the record for the most expensive sushi was held by chef Angelito Araneta Jr., who masterfully crafted five nigiri pieces adorned with diamonds and wrapped in 24-karat gold leaf back in 2010. At that time, this delicacy commanded a price of 91,800 Philippine Pesos (equivalent to more than INR 1,35,000), as explained on the GWR website.

Are you ready to embark on an unprecedented culinary journey? The world’s most expensive sushi has set a new standard, demonstrating the seamless fusion of artistry and luxury in every bite-sized delight.
