Today’s Quordle: Tips and Solutions for Wednesday, July 19 (Game #541)

Get ready for your daily dose of Quordle hints, along with the answers for both the main game and the Daily Sequence spin-off. Quordle is the only Wordle clone that still has me hooked even after 18 months of the daily word game craze. And there’s a good reason for it. Not only is it incredibly fun, but it’s also quite challenging. What’s even better is that its creators, now Merriam-Webster, have come up with a new variant called the Daily Sequence. In this version, you have to solve four puzzles consecutively, rather than simultaneously.

Now, Quordle can be tough. So, if you’re already searching for Wordle hints, it’s likely that you’ll need some help with Quordle too. As a Quordle and Wordle enthusiast who has been playing since December 2021, I’m here to assist you in solving Quordle today and improving your overall game. Read on for my expert Quordle hints for game #541, as well as the answers for the main game and Daily Sequence.

But before we dive in, a quick spoiler warning. If you prefer not to know the answers, better stop reading now.

About Your Quordle Expert:
I am Marc McLaren, TechRadar’s UK Editor in Chief, and I have been playing Wordle and Quordle for more than a year. I have written numerous articles on the game for TechRadar and its sister site, Tom’s Guide. In fact, I even conducted a detailed analysis of the most common letters in each position. Quordle FAQs: Everything You Need to Know
What is Quordle?
Quordle challenges you to solve four puzzles, unlike Wordle, which focuses on guessing a new five-letter word each day. The rules are quite similar, with some minor differences. The game is played online through the Quordle website or Merriam-Webster’s site, as they acquired Quordle last year. Just like Wordle, the answers are the same for all players each day, making it a global competition. The puzzles reset at midnight, giving you a fresh challenge daily. The website also offers a practice mode, which I highly recommend using before diving into the actual game. You can also track your stats, including a streak count and achievements for completing games in a certain number of turns or guessing difficult words. Warning: Quordle is indeed difficult. Prepare for a challenge!

What are the Quordle rules?
The rules of Quordle closely resemble those of Wordle. Here’s a summary:
1. Correct letters in the right place turn green.
2. Correct letters in the wrong place turn yellow.
3. Letters not in the answer turn gray.
4. However, the word you guess appears in all quadrants of the puzzle simultaneously, so the same letter may turn green, yellow, or gray depending on its position.
5. Plural answers are not allowed.
6. Letters can appear more than once.
7. Your guesses must be valid words in Quordle’s dictionary. Invalid guesses like ABCDE are not allowed.
8. Subsequent guesses don’t have to include correct letters, and there’s no Hard mode like in Wordle.
9. You have nine guesses to find the Quordle answers.
10. You must complete the daily Quordle before midnight in your timezone.

What is a good Quordle strategy?
Quordle requires a different approach compared to Wordle. With four puzzles and nine guesses, blindly throwing letters won’t guarantee a win. A strategic approach is crucial. Here are two key tips:
1. Use multiple starting words: One starting word isn’t enough. Aim for two or three. Choose a strong starting word, similar to the best Wordle starting words. Then, select additional words that use the remaining common consonants and any remaining vowels. For example, my current selection is STARE > DOILY > PUNCH, which covers 15 letters, including all vowels and nine common consonants (S, T, R, D, L, P, N, C, and H). There are other options too, like adding M, B, F, or G instead of H. This approach will give you a good head start in guessing one or more of the answers.
2. Narrow down your options: If you face multiple possibilities, try to eliminate them one by one by comparing the letters from your initial guesses with the confirmed green and yellow letters in subsequent puzzles. This will help you make more educated guesses and increase your chances of success.

Now that you have a better understanding of Quordle, give it your best shot and enjoy the challenge. Happy Quordling!
