Twitter’s haphazard X rebrand comes for Tweetdeck

TweetDeck, the once-dominant Twitter tool, is now undergoing the initial stages of Elon Musk’s tumultuous X rebranding.

As reported by 9to5Google, certain parts of the TweetDeck interface now display the new name, ‘XPro.’ Currently, the TweetDeck login page and some other elements feature the updated name, although other areas still refer to the old name. Just like the X rebranding so far, these changes appear to be disorganized and suggest a slow transition.

The new login page prominently features XPro, but still describes it as a “real-time tool for people who live on Twitter.” The page also includes a link to the “legacy XPro,” but when clicked, it still displays the name TweetDeck.

After logging in, the tab shows XPro and the site displays XPro in the bottom-left corner, but the URL remains as ‘tweetdeck.twitter.com.’ If you wish to switch back to the legacy version, a pop-up window now asks if you want to leave XPro.

Overall, these initial changes are relatively minor but indicate more significant updates to come. TweetDeck has faced recent challenges, including Musk’s unusual rate limit restriction temporarily disabling the tool. However, it has since been reinstated. The plan for X is to eventually make TweetDeck/XPro a paid feature, which may disappoint users who heavily rely on TweetDeck’s real-time capabilities.
