Ubisoft Announces Free Weekend Access for Far Cry 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, Alongside 60fps Patch

Far Cry 5 has recently received an impressive 60fps patch for its PS5 and Xbox Series S/X versions. In celebration of its fifth anniversary, Ubisoft has released a free update, with more exciting content on the horizon. From March 23 to March 27, players can enjoy a free weekend of Far Cry 5 on all consoles and PC, and any progress made during the trial will carry over if they choose to purchase the full game. Additionally, Far Cry 5 is currently on sale for up to 85% off on Ubisoft Connect, Microsoft Store, and the PlayStation store.

Ubisoft is proud to announce that the 60fps patch applies to all game modes in Far Cry 5, including the three main DLCs — Lost on Mars, Hours of Darkness, and Dead Living Zombies. Xbox Series X players can now enjoy the game at a stunning 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution, while Xbox Series S owners will experience it at full-HD 1080p resolution. PlayStation 5 players, on the other hand, can immerse themselves in Far Cry 5 at a beautiful 3K (2,880 x 1,620) resolution. It’s worth noting that it’s unusual for Ubisoft to release a “next-gen” patch for a game that was released five years ago, but they seem to have some exciting announcements lined up over the next three weeks.

Seed’s followers produce white flowers that are used to extract Bliss, a hallucinogenic drug that converts people to their cause. Seed’s influence is far-reaching, requiring players to ally with other factions in order to liberate closed-off regions from his Heralds. This journey leads to an unforgettable boss fight, a hallmark of the Far Cry series. With a strong emphasis on exploration and combat, Far Cry 5 introduces a wider array of melee weapons. Players can also engage in the thrilling task of clearing Outposts, which highlights important locations on the expansive open-world map. Furthermore, Far Cry 5 features a map editor and a co-op mode, offering a perfect opportunity for players to dive in with a friend during the upcoming free weekend.

Last month, Ubisoft addressed the delays and cancellations of its games in recent times, citing the necessity to streamline their production. As a result, three unannounced projects were scrapped, and the highly anticipated naval combat title, Skull and Bones, faced yet another delay. Additionally, the development progress of the elusive and somewhat controversial Beyond Good and Evil 2 was hindered by the departure of Guillaume Carmona, the studio’s managing director. According to reports, the game has not yet entered full production due to a lack of a clear “creative vision.”
