According to a Verizon customer on DownDetector, a tower supplying signals to large parts of western Kentucky, southern Indiana, and western Tennessee has been knocked out by a storm in Evansville. This tower outage has also impacted other carriers, as per Verizon’s representative.
Despite the evident service problems faced by Verizon, some customers have been informed by Verizon phone representatives that no outages are occurring. However, many of these customers experiencing disruptions have no cellular service and are left with only the SOS icon on their phone’s status bar.
In response to a concerned customer reporting a service outage in their area, Verizon replied, “Hello and thanks for notifying us. We acknowledge the service disruption and are available to assist you in understanding the cause and restoring your service promptly.”
For some Verizon customers, this could be a long night. We will diligently monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
