The film industry has been shocked by the unexpected passing of Nitin Desai, a renowned art director who had worked on movies like Lagaan and Jodha Akbar. It has been reported that Nitin took his own life at ND Studio, located in Karjat.
While the police are still investigating the incident, a recent report has revealed the existence of a voice recording in Studio 10 of ND Studio, in which Nitin expresses his funeral wishes.
An insider has disclosed that Nitin Desai left behind a recording stating his desire for his funeral to be conducted at Studio 10. The source also claims that Nitin had made preparations for his departure. “ND planned it properly. Last night, he took all the keys from security and asked his boy to leave him alone at the Studio as he had some important work to do,” the source said.
It is said that Nitin escorted his son to the gate and instructed him to return the next day, August 2, at 8:30 am. He also instructed his son to retrieve a recording from Studio 10 the following day. “In the recording, Desai also mentioned that ND Studios should not be taken away from him. He also mentioned that his last rites should be performed at Studio No. 10,” the source claimed.
According to reports, the funeral will take place on August 4.
During his 30-year career, Nitin Desai collaborated closely with renowned directors such as Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani, and Ashutosh Gowariker as an art director on films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. He also designed sets for popular television shows including Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kamzor Kadi Kaun, Dus ka Dum, and Sacch ka Saamna.
