New Delhi: At ET NOW Global Business Summit 2024, Naman “Mortal” Mathur, Co-founder & CMO, S8UL eSports shared his experience as a full-time gamer and a content creator. Mathur, affectionately known as S8UL Mortal, spoke about the moment when he went viral and what all things he performed to achieve his first viral moment.
Q1: How was your experience at ET NOW Global Business Summit 2024?
Answer: This was my first experience with this sort of an audience. I have been with younger audience and students usually.
Q2: Is content creation and gaming a fulltime career and can people opt it as a full-time career?
Answer: I experienced the full circle of being a gamer. I began with content creation and then moved on to eSports along with content creation. But then, later I realised that both would not work together, so I moved back into content creation, but now I’m owner of an eSports team. I am now focusing towards content and my team is focusing on eSports. So yeah, I am making a career out of it and letting others make a career out of it as well.
Q3: How does revenue, income generation work in gaming and content creation?
There are many revenue streams. For me specifically, I’m a YouTuber and live streamer. There is YouTube transactional and ad revenue. Apart from this, I work with brands, both endemic and non-endemic brands. We also have price pools, where if our team performs well and get a podium finish, then we get a good chunk of prize.
Q4: Did you family initially support you to do this?
Answer: Not until I went viral and got my first pay cheque. The moment came in November last year, when I got my first pay cheque and they were like ‘let’s give this one year’s time.’
Q5: What’s one thing which you want to say to your fans out there?
Answer: To my fans, you need to keep your research game strong, because how it began for me, I did the right thing at the right time. I saw a lot of Indian audience in foreign YouTuber’s comments and then I decided, why I don’t do the same thing. And that is when, I went viral. So, I feel, you should look forward to do the right thing at the right time.”
