Dough recently introduced an innovative new monitor called the Spectrum Black. With its 32-inch 4K OLED screen and 240Hz refresh rates, this monitor has the potential to be one of the top gaming monitors in 2024. Scheduled for release in April 2024, Dough’s display might be the first of its kind to hit the market.

Although the monitor has a simple design, its standout feature is its impressive specifications. With 0.03ms gray-to-gray response times and high refresh rates, it promises to deliver an exceptional gaming experience. The 32-inch screen, certified with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, ensures sharp imagery and strong contrasts.

There will be two versions of the Spectrum Black 4K available: one with a glossy glass screen and one with a matte screen. Both versions utilize the same Gorilla Glass covering, which has been showcased in action in a video by Dough. Additionally, Dough has teased the implementation of Black Frame Insertion (BFI) for enhanced visual clarity and improved performance in fast-paced games.

In terms of connectivity, the Spectrum Black offers all the expected ports including DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C with 100 watts of power delivery, regular USB-C, USB-A, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Dough has been concurrently developing this display alongside its 27-inch 1440p version, which is already available. Some components from the predecessor will be reused for this new model, including the motherboard. This approach helps ensure a timely release, although the screen has been in development for quite some time now.

For pricing, Dough is using its familiar sales model where the cost decreases the faster you place a pre-order. The matte model starts at $699, while the glass model starts at $799. These prices will increase gradually until reaching the final prices of $1,099 and $1,299 respectively. Pre-orders are not yet open, so if you’re interested in this monitor, it’s recommended to sign up for Dough’s mailing list to stay informed and not miss out.

While the Spectrum Black appears to be an impressive screen, pre-ordering always carries some uncertainty. The true performance of the monitor will remain unknown until early reviewers have the opportunity to test it. Additionally, there have been some concerns raised about Dough’s pre-order model, with reports of past orders being unfulfilled or shipped late. Although the company appears to be on the right track now, if you have any doubts, it’s best to wait until the monitors are available through reputable retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H.
