Former “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson has been charged with reckless driving by Los Angeles prosecutors. This comes three months after he crashed into a house in Beverly Hills. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one misdemeanour count of reckless driving against Davidson, and the details of the collision on March 4 have not been released.
In an email statement, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated, “We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision with a home. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in this collision.”
Davidson’s arraignment is scheduled for July 27. His representatives and the Beverly Hills police have not yet commented on the charges. The prosecution is using this high-profile case to emphasize the “devastating consequences” of reckless driving. The office stated, “In 2022, traffic fatalities in Los Angeles have reached their highest levels in 20 years.”
“This is a concerning trend that cannot be ignored. Therefore, it is crucial that we take all allegations of reckless driving seriously and hold those responsible accountable.”
The accident occurred on March 4 when Davidson was allegedly driving a Mercedes at high speed in a residential area. The vehicle jumped the curb and knocked over a fire hydrant, clipping the corner of a house. Neither Davidson nor any of the home’s residents were injured.
