Discover Healthy and Tasty Dishes to Enjoy During Monsoon

The monsoon season brings joy and relief to people, as it offers respite from the sweltering heat. However, along with the rain, it also brings a risk of various diseases such as dengue, viral fever, common cold, cough, and flu. It is crucial to take care of our health during this season, as prevention is always better than cure. Many people adopt different methods to stay healthy and boost their immune system during the rainy season. Some prefer herbal teas and Kadhas, while others rely on nutritious soups to stay healthy and avoid diseases.

Instead of indulging in unhealthy snacks, it is advisable to opt for healthier options. Here are some delicious and nutritious dishes that can be easily prepared at home.

  • Carrot Soup: A satisfying and nutritious dish, carrot soup infused with ginger helps strengthen the immune system. The sweetness of carrots combined with the flavorful kick of ginger provides both nourishment and taste.
  • Herbal Tea: A hot cup of tea infused with various herbs is a perfect choice for monsoon. An Ayurveda expert, Dr. Dixa Bhavsar Savaliya, shared a four-ingredient recipe on Instagram, which can help boost immunity and prevent monsoon-related illnesses such as cough, cold, fever, and poor digestion.

According to Dr. Dixa Bhavsar Savaliya, this herbal tea recipe helps improve immunity, digestion, and prevents bloating and gastric issues. To prepare the tea, follow these steps:

Recipe

  • Take 1 litre of water
  • Add 5-7 Tulsi leaves
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 7-10 Mint leaves
  • 1 inch of ginger (grated)
  • For people with pitta issues/acidity, excess bleeding, etc, add 1 cardamom too

Method

  • Let it boil for 5 mins, strain, and sip on it throughout the day or have 1 glass of it first thing in the morning.

Dr. Dixa Bhavsar Savaliya further explains that this recipe is suitable for almost everyone as it contains tulsi and ginger, which are hot, and mint and coriander, which are cooling and help improve metabolism and immunity.

She recommends everyone to sip on this water throughout the day or have at least 1 glass in the morning during the rainy season to stay healthy.

Another delightful option is Oats Tikki, also known as Oats cutlet. It is a healthy appetizer made with ground oats, paneer, beans, carrots, chillies, and spices. These tikkis are not only nutritious but also delicious. They can be enjoyed with green mint chutney or tomato ketchup.

Method

  • Combine the above-mentioned ingredients in a bowl and form cutlets.
  • Heat some oil in a pan and fry the cutlets until golden brown on both sides.
  • Remove from the pan and serve.
