Queensland Reds Announce Les Kiss as Head Coach for 2024, Replacing Brad Thorn

Former league star Les Kiss has officially been announced as the new coach of the Queensland Reds until the end of the 2026 Super Rugby season. After a disappointing 2023 campaign that saw the Reds finish eighth out of twelve teams, Kiss will take over from Brad Thorn, another former league star. In his playing career, Kiss played 100 first-grade games for the North Sydney Bears and was named Dally M winger of the year in his rookie season. Kiss also represented Australia in four league Tests and played four State of Origin games for Queensland. After transitioning to coaching, Kiss spent five seasons with London Irish and served as the director of rugby at Ulster in Ireland. He has also worked as an assistant coach for Ireland, South Africa, and the NSW Waratahs. Queensland CEO David Hanham expressed confidence in Kiss, highlighting his success in various coaching roles and praising his suitability for the Reds. Kiss, who hails from Bundaberg, expressed his excitement at returning to his home state and the opportunity to work with the talented roster of the Reds. He also emphasized his commitment to building upon the strong foundation laid by Thorn and helping the team reach their full potential in Super Rugby.
