BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirms printed tickets required for ODI World Cup 2023; no e-tickets available

Due to the upcoming one-day World Cup, spectators will not be able to purchase e-tickets and enter the stadium directly from the internet.

Spectators must show printed tickets in order to enter the stadium. Those who purchase tickets online will need to collect printed tickets and present them at the entry gate.

Each center will have at least seven to eight counters where spectators can collect their printed tickets. Sufficient time will be provided before the start of the game to ensure proper distribution of tickets. Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced this information.

“We will not be using e-tickets this time. Instead, we will make arrangements for tickets to be redeemed at various locations a week in advance. This will make the process hassle-free,” Shah stated, as quoted by ANI.

He explained, “Managing e-tickets at high-capacity venues like Ahmedabad and Lucknow would be difficult. Our plan is to gradually introduce the use of e-tickets in bilateral matches and then expand to multi-nation events like the World Cup.”

Shah mentioned ongoing discussions with the majority of state cricket associations, who have until July 31 to finalize their decisions.

In addition, the ICC and BCCI will jointly announce the ticket pricing at a later date, and a ticket partner has already been selected.

Shah also emphasized the importance of upgrading stadium infrastructure, with priorities including housekeeping, toilets, hygiene, and water facilities.

To address the water aspect, the BCCI has partnered with Coca-Cola, the official ICC partner, to provide complimentary water to fans in the stands. The water will be offered in bottled or glass form.

State associations have been instructed to install proper signage across the stadiums to enhance the fan experience. This is expected to contribute to an improved overall experience for spectators during matches.

The opening match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, featuring defending champions England and runner-up New Zealand, is scheduled to take place on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
