IndyCar news | Nashville to host IndyCar season-finale in 2024 on new layout

IndyCar has officially announced that the 2024 season will conclude in Nashville on September 15-17. The thrilling North American single-seater series will showcase a new track layout that incorporates a portion of the city’s iconic Broadway strip. Fans can catch all the adrenaline-pumping action of the 2023 IndyCar Series, featuring star drivers such as Will Power, Scott McLaughlin, and Scott Dixon, exclusively on Stan Sport. With ad-free streaming options, viewers can enjoy the live and on-demand coverage of every exciting moment.

The updated seven-turn layout of the Music City Grand Prix utilizes the Korean Veterans Boulevard bridge as its centerpiece, with adjustments made to the course length at both ends. Mark Miles, the president and CEO of Penske Entertainment Corp, expressed his excitement, stating that Nashville and the Music City Grand Prix team are prepared to host an unforgettable event on a global scale. Miles believes that next year’s race in Nashville will not only showcase the fierce competition of IndyCar but also highlight the innovative and captivating setting of one of the world’s premier entertainment districts.

Moreover, preparations for an action-packed weekend both on and off the track are underway. The event will fully embrace and capitalize on Nashville’s growing influence and significance. Spectators can look forward to a range of activities and experiences that will make this race a standout occasion.

The Music City Grand Prix made its debut in 2021 and has quickly become a favorite among fans. Marcus Ericsson famously won the inaugural race, overcoming a crash and a stunning airborne recovery to secure victory. In 2022, Scott Dixon, Ericsson’s teammate at Chip Ganassi Racing, emerged victorious in a thrilling finish against fellow Kiwi contender Scott McLaughlin.

The upcoming race will be the final one on the current 10-turn layout. Fans can expect an exciting change with the removal of the challenging turn four to turn eight section, which has been a hotspot for chaos in the previous races.

The decision to have Nashville as the host for the season-finale necessitated a date change for Laguna Seca, which has been the venue for the closing race since its return in 2019. It is anticipated that Laguna Seca will be scheduled for March in the upcoming season.

Miles emphasized the importance of Laguna Seca as a historic and cherished venue, beloved by teams, drivers, and fans in a valuable and scenic market.

IndyCar is set to unveil the full calendar for the 2024 season in the near future.

For fans eagerly awaiting the 2023 season, the IndyCar Series will continue in Nashville on August 6-7 (AEST). Practice sessions will start on Sunday at 1:40am, followed by qualifying at 4:45am. The final practice will take place later that morning at 8:25, with the 80-lap race scheduled for Monday at 2am.
