Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman hit back at trolls on social media asking them to “stay classy” after implying that she had received “hateful vile DMs” on her Instagram account.
Raman posted a carousel of photographs on her Instagram account after Australia defeated the Indian cricket team by six wickets in the Cricket World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The photos also included a message for fans.

“aaaaand cue all the hateful vile DMs. Stay classy… Can’t believe this needs to be said BUT you can be Indian and also support the country of your birth where you have been raised and more importantly the team your husband plus father of your child plays in #nobrainer. Take a chill pill and direct that outrage towards more important world issues (SIC),” the Indian-origin Raman wrote in an Instagram post on Monday.
Raman, who is a pharmacist, married Maxwell last year and the couple have a young baby.

Maxwell got Australia a crucial breakthrough in the final against India by getting the wicket of highflying Rohit Sharma, who was batting on 47. That wicket took the wind out of India’s sails. He wasn’t needed to do too much with the bat with Travis Head scoring 137 runs and more or less assuring a sixth World Cup trophy for Australia by the time Maxwell came in to bat.
Meanwhile, Australian cricketer David Warner also apologised to Indian fans on social media.
Responding to an Indian fan’s tweet about Warner “breaking a billion” hearts, the opener said: “I apologise, it was such a great game and the atmosphere was incredible. India really put on a serious event. Thank you all.”
