Real Madrid trio in contention for Euros 2024 after crucial change in squad rules

According to reports (h/t Madrid Xtra), Real Madrid’s attention is on their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich, so they won’t be going to Cibeles to celebrate a potential La Liga victory this weekend.

Instead, they will hold any celebrations after their match against Granada next week.

Even though they are playing at home against Cadiz, the club is focused on the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals and urges calm.

However, Carlo Ancelotti and his team also need to watch the game at Montilivi in Girona to stay in the running for the championship.

They must win the match against Cadiz and hope that Barcelona does not beat Girona. A draw or loss at the Bernabeu would delay their title celebration for at least one more week.

Why is Real Madrid postponing title celebration?

Real Madrid fans are hopeful that the team can clinch the league title this weekend. However, the club is advising caution, as the crucial upcoming match against Bayern could make a big celebration too distracting for the players.

The situation might change the following week. On Matchday 35, Real Madrid face Granada and could potentially secure the league title on its own.

By that time, the pressure of the Champions League will have diminished, either due to elimination or because the final is still 20 days away.

The team will then play against Alaves at home just three days later. A celebration could hinder the players’ rest, though the match will have no significant stakes.

If Real Madrid win the title at Granada’s stadium, the atmosphere will be entirely different. The team would return home the same day, and the Champions League would no longer be a concern.

The match in Granada will take place on Saturday next weekend, and the team will fly back home on a charter flight that same night, arriving around 11:00 p.m.

If they manage to win it this Saturday, the players won’t celebrate too much because their focus will shift to the upcoming Champions League games.
