Manoj Tiwari, the Bhojpuri star and BJP MP, reveals a fascinating connection between megastar Amitabh Bachchan and former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Tiwari, who worked with Bachchan in the 2006 film Ganga, shares the story on India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma’s popular show Aap Ki Adalat.
Talking about his bond with MS Dhoni, Tiwari recalls, “I have known Dhoni since his Ranji trophy days. He used to stay at my place in Mumbai, and we often shared the same room.”
Tiwari goes on to recount the first meeting between Dhoni and his ‘die-hard’ fan Amitabh Bachchan. According to Tiwari, the two superstars crossed paths in Film City while shooting for the Bhojpuri film Ganga. “Amitabh ji was reading the newspaper and saw Dhoni on the front page with a headline that declared him one of the best cricketers in the world. I asked Amitabh ji if he would like to meet Dhoni since he was also shooting in Film City,” Tiwari explains.
The actor continues, “I called Dhoni, and he was thrilled to come to the sets and meet Amitabh ji. However, Amitabh ji wanted to visit Dhoni on his own sets. Nevertheless, Dhoni insisted, and the two finally came face to face. This is the generosity of two great men, one in Bollywood and the other in cricket. And I must take full credit for this iconic meetup.”
Sharing an anecdote about Dhoni’s humility, Tiwari reveals, “I thought I wouldn’t get a chance to meet Dhoni after he became famous. But even after becoming a star, Dhoni would stay at my place just like before.” WATCH:
