Aespa has achieved yet another milestone by securing their second consecutive top 10 album on the highly prestigious Billboard 200 chart!
Although Aespa’s album, “My World,” was originally released digitally in Korea on May 8, it had a delayed physical CD release in the United States, which took place on June 30. Consequently, the album debuted on the U.S. chart after almost two months of its initial release. Billboard recently announced that Aespa’s “MY WORLD” made its entry at No. 9 on the Top 200 Albums chart, which ranks the most popular albums in the United States.
Aespa has now become the fastest K-pop artist to achieve two top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, accomplishing this feat in less than three years since their debut. They join the ranks of TWICE and BLACKPINK as the only K-pop acts to achieve this milestone.
Prior to “MY WORLD,” Aespa’s first album to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200 was their 2022 release, “Girls,” which debuted at No. 3 on the chart last year.
Based on Luminate’s (formerly Nielsen Music) data, “MY WORLD” garnered a total of 40,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 6. This includes 39,000 traditional album sales and 1,000 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units, which is equivalent to approximately 1.33 million on-demand audio streams during the week.
For those unfamiliar, Aespa is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment and comprises of four members: Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningnig. They are known for popularizing the metaverse concept and hyperpop music in the K-pop industry. Aespa made their debut in November 2020 with the single “Black Mamba,” and its music video amassed the highest number of views for a K-pop group’s debut within 24 hours.
