All England Badminton 2024 Live, PV Sindhu vs An Se Young: India’s top shuttlers will be in action on Thursday at the prestigious All England Open badminton championships as the round of 16 stage got underway.
Frst up, two-time Olympics medallist PV Sindhu suffered a straight games defeat against An Se Yong. She faced the toughest test there is in women’s singles currently and gave it a good fight in the opener but the challenge fizzled out in the end. Sindhu now trails Se Young 0-7 in their Head-to-Head. The Korean has been in phenomenal form for more than a year and is the reigning champion as well.

The spotlight will later be on Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who come into the event after winning the French Open title last week. They defeated the tricky pairing of Indonesian legends Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in straight games on Wednesday. Satwik-Chirag will take on another Indonesian pair, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana, who were All England badminton open champions in 2022.
Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will be in action too later in the day.
Also in the fray will be Lakshya Sen, former runner-up who is unseeded at Birmingham this year. He beat young Dane leftie Magnus Johannesen, 21-14, 21-14 in an easy Round 1 clash to end up as the only Indian in Round 2 of men’s singles. Lakshya plays another Dane, a more compact, stubborn and quicker one, Anders Antonsen, seeded 4, who lost his first match of badminton World Tour 2024 season only last week. Meanwhile, Priyanshu Rajawat gave Chico Wardoyo a scare, before losing.
