Starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, Adipurush made its theatrical debut on Friday in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film, written and directed by Om Raut, also features Saif Ali Khan, Devdatta Nage, and Sunny Singh in leading roles. With the film’s release, there is already speculation about its premiere on an OTT platform, which has left fans excited.
Adipurush OTT Release
According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the rights to the joint project of T-series and Retrophiles. The film is expected to premiere on the platform in the second week of August. However, the premiere date may vary for the Hindi dubbed version due to strict terms regarding the OTT release of a big-budget film in the Hindi belt.
Cinema enthusiasts can subscribe to Prime Video, which offers multiple plans starting from Rs. 299 per month to Rs. 1,499 per year.
Adipurush faced several controversies prior to its release. The teaser of the film, which was launched last year in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, received mixed reactions from the audience. It faced criticism for its VFX and portrayal of characters, including Saif Ali Khan as Ravana.
Based on the epic Ramayana, Adipurush is reportedly the most expensive Indian film ever made. It features Kriti Sanon as Janki, Prabhas as Raghav, Devdatta Nage as Bajrang, Sunny Singh as Lakshmana, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana. The film was originally scheduled to release on August 11, 2022, but was postponed due to the release of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. The release date was once again pushed ahead to avoid a clash with Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya.
Adipurush marks the first collaboration between Kriti Sanon and Prabhas, which sparked dating rumors fueled by Varun Dhawan during a reality show. However, Kriti later denied the rumors and released a statement addressing the matter.
