Mikel Arteta is set to face the press after Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Liverpool at Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.
The game got off to a strong start for the Gunners who were in front early as Bukayo Saka hammered home the rebound from Kai Havertz’s goal bound shot.
Arsenal continued to dominate in the early exchanges and once again could easily have gone further in front. It looked as though the Gunners were heading in at half time well in the ascendency. However, just moments before the break a mix up between William Saliba and David Raya allowed Luis Diaz to nip in and deflect a cross off Gabriel into the net.
The sucker punch appeared to shell shock Arsenal who came out of the blocks slowly in the second and could have fallen behind when Curtis Jones curled just wide.
Not long after though, it was time for Liverpool to have a defensive mix up of their own as Virgil van Dijk and Alisson both left a ball over the top to allow Gabriel Martinelli to poke into an empty net.
Arsenal proceeded to defend their lead well and cause problems on the counter with Ibrahima Konate being sent off for a second yellow after hauling down Havertz on a breakaway with minutes remaining.
There was still time for Leandro Trossard to pop up with a superbly taken third goal to secure a crucial three points that cuts the gap at the top of the Premier League to just two points. You can hear what Arteta has to say on all that and much more with football.london‘s chief Arsenal correspondent Kaya Kaynak in our live blog below.

Arteta on Martinelli
I think he looks again really confident and sharp. He was a really threat today, not just for the goal but how intuitive and cheeky he was with the goal. I thought Leo and Kai were unbelievable today.

Arteta on mentality
Absolutely. We have shown that today. To be the best and have the best mentality you have to do it every three days. We showed it today against the most in form team in Europe and now we have to do it tomorrow when we train and against West Ham.

Arteta on the Liverpool goal
Conceding the goal really affected us. But you cannot feel sorry for yourself against this team. We grabbed control of the game after 10 or 15 mins of suffering.

Arteta on the game
It was an extraordinary game. An incredible performance from the players and our people. That’s the best atmosphere I’ve seen all season. We had to go to a different level and I think the players responded. I cannot be any prouder. Big thankyou.

Arteta on Jesus and Zinchenko
With Gabi we expect it to be some days. With Alex we don’t know. He felt something in his calf again so we had to take him off.

Arteta on Saka
He should be fine I think.

Arteta on Jorginho
Unbelievable. I always say that he’s an example and a role model. He’s been in a lot of pain as well because he’s had an issue that he’s been carrying for months. For all the kids just look at him and how he behaves. I’m really lucky to have players like this.

Man of the match speaks
Jorginho, speaking to Sky Sports: “We believe in ourselves and rely on each other. The Liverpool goal did not change anything that we had done.
“We knew how to get back in the second half. We had to push each other and keep the energy high.”
On the Arsenal team: “It is such a good group and a humble group who listen to each other and no-one is selfish.
“Here everyone thinks for the group and the maturity of our team was demonstrated today.”

Player ratings
Martinelli and Saka get plaudits for their goals but Jorginho was absolutely outstanding today. Such a consistent performer for #AFC in big games.
