Cronulla Sharks Reportedly Contemplating Revoking Scott Morrison’s No.1 Ticketholder Status in Latest NRL News for 2023

The Cronulla Sharks are reportedly contemplating terminating the No.1 ticketholder status of former Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, due to his involvement in the robo-debt scheme and subsequent scrutiny. Despite Morrison’s dismissal of the findings in the extensive 990-page report from the royal commission, the Sydney Morning Herald reports that Cronulla is considering taking action.

Morrison expressed his complete rejection of the report’s critical findings against him, asserting that they are unfounded and contradict the clear documentary evidence provided to the commission. Nevertheless, Cronulla Sharks management is apparently contemplating revoking his No.1 ticketholder status.

It is not uncommon for politicians to hold such positions at various clubs. Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott and former NSW Premier Gladys Berejikilian were both bestowed the honor of being No.1 ticketholders at the Manly club. Similarly, former Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg was granted the status at Melbourne in 2020.

Morrison was named the No.1 ticketholder for the Sharks in 2016 and remained an active supporter of the club, attending games at Shark Park during and after his term as prime minister. The club expressed their delight at having the Prime Minister associated with their team back in 2018.

Despite an official leaking the news to the Sydney Morning Herald, a spokesperson for Morrison denied the story, claiming that Sharks management had refuted the reports. However, if Morrison is found guilty of any negligence or wrongdoing, the Sharks are said to be prepared to revoke his No.1 ticketholder status.
