Turkish Shooter Yusuf Dikec reacts to viral memes
Now that Dikec has become an internet sensation, the Turkish athlete sat down in an interview where he had a look at the viral posts on X featuring him.
Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec hogged the limelight for his ‘Hitman’ appearance in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. Teaming up with Sevval Ilayda Tarhan, he won a silver in the mixed team 10m air pistol event on Tuesday. His look became the biggest talking point on social media. While most shooters wore visors, chunky ear defenders, and shooting lenses to focus at the aim, Dikec only put on a yellow ear plug, normal glasses, and his jersey looked like a regular t-shirt.
Now that Dikec has become an internet sensation, the Turkish athlete sat down in an interview with Anadolu news agency where he had a look at the viral posts on X featuring him.
“What’s important to me is to win people’s hearts. I see a lot of comments [on social media] which are positive,” Dikec said while scrolling some X posts about him.
“People have written some really nice things for me. Some have made me a Superhero. Even Elon Musk has posted about me. I’m very happy for myself and my country. It’s some very nice stuff written there,” he added.
Reflecting on his viral moment, he said, “People sometimes say, ‘It’s so easy, you won a medal with your hands in your pockets.’ But there’s 24 years of work and effort behind that medal. I train six days a week for 4-5 hours a day. I wish it was gold, but we still achieved a lot.”

My daughter is my inspiration
Dikec further stated that her daughter Basak is his only asset and he draws inspiration from her.
“My only asset in the world, my source of life, is my 9-year-old daughter Başak. Talking to her the day before the competition motivated me positively. Normally, I don’t answer my phone to stay focused, but hearing from her was special,” Dikec said.
