Another prominent departure from the show was Disha Vakani, also known as Daya, which sparked a lot of controversy. Disha Vakani’s departure due to financial reasons?
In an exclusive conversation with India TV, Malav revealed that money was not the reason for Disha Vakani’s departure from the show. She was not motivated by financial gains; her passion for her craft was what drove her.
Malav explained that Disha Vakani took a break from the show due to her first pregnancy. The production team constantly tried to bring her back, and she expressed her willingness to return on multiple occasions. However, various issues prevented her from making a comeback. The first time she decided to return, the COVID-induced lockdown disrupted her plans. At that time, her daughter was still young, and she couldn’t leave her, so she declined the offer. After COVID, she was approached again, but by then, she was expecting her second child.
Why wasn’t a replacement found for Disha?
According to Malav, several attempts were made to find a new actress to portray Daya’s character, but none of them could match Disha Vakani’s energy. As a result, the makers abandoned the idea of introducing another actress. Malav also spoke about his experience working with Disha for so many years, describing her as a humble and determined individual who leads a simple life.
In recent times, other actors, including Shailesh Lodha, who portrayed the main character Taarak Mehta, have also left Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
