The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched its ODI World Cup campaign on social media, featuring a photo of the trophy alongside the renowned Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan. In the picture, King Khan can be seen admiring the ICC trophy, with the caption reading, “It’s nearly here…”
As expected, the photo quickly went viral, attracting the attention of millions of fans. It has been viewed by over a million people and received nearly 43,000 likes. Fans couldn’t contain their excitement and showered Shah Rukh Khan with praise, calling him the “world’s biggest moviestar,” “Badshah,” “Pride of India,” and the “Face of Indian cinema.” Some speculated that it was a promotional strategy for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film, Jawan.
“This is the legacy of SRK, ICC acknowledges him as King Khan. And who better than the biggest face of India to unveil the World Cup trophy,” one Twitter user wrote. Another expressed optimism that India would win the trophy, saying, “The king is always a lucky charm for India… So Rohit and co. will lift this edition of the WC trophy for sure.”
Many fans expressed their gratitude towards ICC for sharing Shah Rukh Khan’s photo with the trophy. One fan even hoped that Shah Rukh Khan would take another photo with the Indian team in November.
The ICC World Cup 2023 is set to commence on October 5 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The opening match will be played between England and New Zealand, the finalists of the previous edition. India’s first match is scheduled for October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, where they will face Australia.
About a month before the World Cup, Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film, Jawan, will be released on September 7. The movie’s first look, featuring Shah Rukh Khan with a bald look, has already generated significant attention.
