Formula 1 news | ‘What the hell?’ Daniel Ricciardo in hysterics over erotic F1 fan fiction novel, podcast interview

Daniel Ricciardo can’t have imagined his Formula 1 career would one day make him the subject of erotic fan fiction.

Now, that day has come, leaving the eight-time grand prix winner in hysterics.

The author, whose punny name ‘Anita Driver’ is conspicuous in itself, has published a 50-page Ricciardo-based novel – Overtake My Heart: Thicc Ric Races For Love.

The book is apparently the first of 69 “in the Daniel Ricciardo Romance Series” by the author.

Touted as a “great gift for mum”, the cover features an artwork of a topless Ricciardo straddling a Red Bull Formula 1 car with flames in the background.

Published in July, the book has finally been sighted by Ricciardo.

Speaking on the Eff One with DRS podcast, the Perth product chortled as he read the contents of the cover.

“I have never heard of this,” he said.

“I think I’m flattered, I don’t know. But I can’t say I’ve heard of it.

“I’m also assuming you’re not joking but I am very gullible.

“First I’ve heard… Heidi’s (Ricciardo’s girlfriend) just showed me,” he laughed.

“What the hell? What the f— is this? I look jacked though.”

The book is listed on Amazon and its description reads: “Rev up your engines for a sizzling, high-octane romance! ‘Overtake My Heart’ will take you on a heart-stopping ride filled with passion, speed, and heartbreak.

“Follow Emily, a smart and independent woman, as she navigates the thrilling and glamorous world of Formula 1 racing, and tangles with the irresistible, charming playboy, Daniel Ricciardo.

“Will Emily’s love be enough to tame the notorious heartbreaker? Will Daniel risk his career and reputation for the woman who’s captured his heart? Buckle up for a love story that’s as unpredictable and exhilarating as the race itself.

“You’ll be on the edge of your seat until the very last page!”

“Driver” has two other Formula 1-inspired books listed, namely “Charles Leclerc and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Monaco Grand Prix: A book of sadness and disappointment for children” and “Stop, Drop and Stroll: The Lance Stroll Inspired Guide to Fire Safety for Kids.”

The children’s book and erotic novelist describes herself as “a Formula 1 enthusiast who has attended every Spanish Grand Prix since 1991.”

Her hilarious bio continues, “She first learned to love cars when she was struck by one at the age of 9.

“She currently resides in a flat in New York with her 29 cats who are all named Bernie Wigglestone.

“She once shared a cab with Margaret Thatcher and has a very festive pair of ruby slippers that she wears when she’s feeling fancy.”
