Goa Expands Tourist Markets to Include the US and South Korea, Alongside Traditional Markets of the UK and Russia

The decision was taken in a meeting of the Goa Tourism Board chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, where the calendar of events focused on emerging markets was finalised.

Goa has been traditionally depending on Russia and UK for international footfalls.

Goa is expanding its tourist market by targeting visitors from the United States of America, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries in addition to its traditional markets, Russia and the United Kingdom. The decision was made during a meeting of the Goa Tourism Board led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, where a calendar of events focused on emerging markets was finalized.

Rohan Khaunte, the state minister, stated, “Goa has traditionally relied on Russia and the UK for international tourists. However, with the recent opening of outbound travel from countries like the USA, South Korea, and UAE, we can expect visitors from these places.”

During the Board meeting, the calendar for travel shows and events for the upcoming tourism year was finalized. Goa aims to showcase itself as a destination beyond its beaches in these countries. The state tourism department is actively promoting festivals like Sao Joao and Chikal Khalo (mud festival), among others, to provide tourists with an experience of Goa beyond its beaches,” he added.

Khaunte also stressed the need to establish international flight connections through the newly commissioned Manohar International Airport at Mopa. “The Chief Minister and I will be meeting with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to discuss increasing flight connectivity to Mopa airport under the Open Skies policy,” Khaunte revealed.
