This feature allows you to answer texts, control music, or perform tasks that would typically require your phone. Unlike other alternatives, you’ll also have access to Alexa. You won’t be limited to just one ecosystem when issuing voice commands.
However, if you’re using a Wear OS 3 watch from another brand like Mobvoi or Montblanc, this update won’t be of much help. Fossil is one of the most popular names in Google-powered smartwatches, providing support that enables many more wearable owners to use Assistant and avoid relying on a tiny screen for interaction.
If you’re new to smartwatches, it might be worth waiting before making a purchase. Historically, Fossil introduces new Wear OS models in late summer, except for this year’s slightly upgraded Gen 6 Wellness Edition in January. While there is no information on when the Gen 7 will be released or what it will offer, it’s highly likely to be a significant upgrade whenever it arrives. Therefore, it would be wise not to buy the Gen 6 solely because Assistant is now available. This update is more beneficial for existing owners who lost functionality last year.
