‘House of Gucci’: Salma Hayek Applauds Lady Gaga’s Acting Skills

Hollywood icon Salma Hayek opened up about her experience working with co-star Lady Gaga on their latest biographical crime film ‘House of Gucci’ in an exclusive cover story with Variety. According to Hayek, Gaga’s portrayal of Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci who was behind his murder in 1995, was impeccable. “She was already Patrizia when we spoke on the phone, her accent was perfect,” Hayek recounted.

Hayek, who plays Pina Auriemma, shared that the on-set experience was a joy, especially when it came to playing off each other as professionals. “We had a lot of fun reliving scenes that aren’t in the movie,” said Hayek. “Gaga isn’t just talented and smart; she has extra abilities that not every brilliant actor has. She’s good with accents, can improvise on the fly, and really embodies the character.”

Hayek also noted Gaga’s exceptional level of commitment, stating that she is a true team player. The pair spent several months in Italy, and Hayek revealed that the local cuisine was a highlight for her. “You’re in Rome, in a movie, and the rounder you are, the better it is for your character. That to me was nirvana,” said Hayek.

‘House of Gucci,’ which stars Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jack Huston, Reeve Carney, and Jeremy Irons, is based on the book ‘The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed’ by Sara Gay Forden. The film wrapped production last month, with Gaga sharing news of its completion on her Instagram account. In the caption, she wrote, “That’s a wrap, Rid,” alongside the hashtag #HouseOfGucci.

Maurizio and Patrizia married in 1973 and separated in 1985. Patrizia was ultimately convicted of arranging her ex-husband’s murder in 1998, becoming known as the “Black Widow” and spending nearly two decades in prison before her release in 2016 for good behavior.
