In the Ashes 2023 series, the English team has showcased an aggressive style of play which has resulted in victories in the last two Test matches. This aggressive approach, called ‘BazBall’, promotes a positive and attacking form of Test cricket. During the second Test match against the West Indies, the Indian team also experimented with a similar strategy, which fans have dubbed as ‘Dravball’.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid adopted a strategy similar to ‘BazBall’ and scored a remarkable 181 runs in just 24 overs. The run rate of the Indian team was unusually high at 7.54, which is now the highest in Test cricket.

Fastest 100 in Test cricket

In addition, Team India has achieved the fastest hundred in Test cricket. During the second innings against the West Indies, Team India scored 100 runs in just 74 balls. This surpassed the previous records held by Bangladesh and England, who achieved the feat in 82 balls.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal started the innings aggressively, forming a partnership of 98 runs in just 71 balls. Rohit Sharma contributed 57 runs in 44 balls, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 38 runs in 30 balls.

Rohit Sharma then passed on the attacking role to Ishan Kishan, who remained not out at 52 runs in just 34 balls. Shubman Gill also contributed with 29 runs in 37 balls on Day 4.

India declared the innings at 181 runs, and at the end of Day 4, the West Indies were playing at 76/2. Team West Indies now needs 289 runs to win, but they will face a formidable bowling attack led by Mohammad Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin.
