India vs West Indies ODI: ‘Don’t ask for luxury but need some basic necessities taken care of…’ Hardik Pandya to WICB

Team India has continued their dominance against the West Indies by extending their lead as the team with the most consecutive bilateral ODI series wins against the Caribbeans. In a massive victory, India defeated West Indies by 200 runs, securing a 2-1 series win at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. This is India’s 12th consecutive bilateral ODI series win against West Indies, with their last series loss dating back to 2006 when West Indies defeated them 4-1.

Indian captain Hardik Pandya criticized the West Indian Cricket Board for the lack of basic facilities during their stay and emphasized the need for Cricket West Indies (CWI) to address these issues. “This was one of the nicest grounds we have played. Things can be better when we come to West Indies next time. Last year also, some hiccups happened,” Hardik said after the game at the Brian Lara Stadium, as quoted by news agency PTI.

“I think it’s time for West Indies Cricket to take note and ensure that when a team travels, we don’t ask for luxury but we need some basic necessities taken care of. Other than that, we really enjoyed coming here and playing some good cricket,” he added.

Prior to the opening of the ODI series, Team India had expressed their displeasure to the BCCI after their late-night flight from Trinidad to Barbados was delayed by almost four hours. This left the players sleep-deprived ahead of the series opener.

In the 3rd ODI, Hardik led the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma and scored an unbeaten 70 runs off 52 balls. Shubman Gill contributed 85 runs off 92 balls, while Ishan Kishan scored 77 runs off 64 balls and Sanju Samson scored 51 runs off 41 balls.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested once again in the final match of the ODI series. Defending their decision, Pandya stated that it was important to give opportunities to the youngsters ahead of the World Cup. West Indies skipper Shai Hope described his team as being inconsistent, performing as the best team in the world on some days and getting completely overwhelmed on others.

India will now face West Indies in a five-match T20I series starting on Thursday.
