IndyCar Update: Scott Dixon Sends Ominous Warning to Pato O’Ward Months After Their Clash

IndyCar’s Ice Man remains heated following a near two-month-old confrontation. During the Grand Prix of Long Beach, Pato O’Ward forcefully overtook Scott Dixon, causing the six-time champion to crash into a tire wall. Understandably, Dixon was frustrated as his chances for a strong finish were ruined. Only Stan Sport offers the opportunity to watch the 2023 IndyCar Series, featuring top drivers such as Will Power, Scott McLaughlin, and Scott Dixon. All the action can be streamed ad-free, live, and on demand. Although Dixon returned to the race, he experienced an engine failure later on, leading to his first did not finish (DNF) at the renowned street circuit since 2012.

Scott Dixon expressed his disappointment with officials for not taking any action against O’Ward and suggested that it was now a “gloves off” situation. Recently, Dixon had the chance to challenge O’Ward once again and get his revenge at the latest IndyCar race at Road America.

However, Dixon refrained from retaliating and O’Ward finished third, just ahead of Dixon. When asked about potentially adopting an aggressive approach to take the lead, Dixon stated that it was not the right time and suggested that a response will come in due course.

In terms of the IndyCar Series drivers’ championship, Scott Dixon currently sits in equal fourth place. Apart from his DNF, Dixon has maintained remarkable consistency in 2023. He has finished no lower than seventh in seven out of the eight races so far, achieving four top-five finishes. However, he is still awaiting a victory. At Road America, Dixon was able to secure a fourth-place finish despite a major crash in practice involving Australian driver Will Power, which resulted in wrecked cars.

Although Dixon narrowly missed out on a podium finish, his teammate Alex Palou secured his third win of the season, establishing himself as the title favorite. Palou holds a significant lead in points over Marcus Ericsson, with 324 points compared to Ericsson’s 250. Ironically, Dixon is tied with O’Ward in the standings, both having accumulated 226 points.

Dixon congratulated Palou on his impressive performance and acknowledged the substantial lead he has built. However, Dixon emphasized the need for everyone to close the gap. The next race in the IndyCar Series will take place at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on July 2-3, a venue where Dixon has achieved six victories, making him the most successful active driver there.
