IPL 2024 Final to be Held in Chennai, Ahmedabad Gets Two Playoff Matches: Report

The BCCI is set to announce the schedule for the remainder of the IPL 2024 that got underway earlier this week with defending champions Chennai Super Kings defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season opener at home. According to a report, Chennai’s Chepauk will also host the IPL 2024 final.

Ass per a report by the news agency PTI, Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will host one Qualifier and the Eliminator while another Qualifier will be held in Chennai.

“The IPL Governing Council has followed the tradition of holding the opening game and final at the home venue of last year’s defending champions — in this case Chennai Super Kings,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by PTI.

The report further said that the BCCI has finalised the schedule keeping in mind the general election dates and it will be released shortly.

CricketNext had earlier reported that the IPL Governing Council is reworking its first draft of the second phase of the ongoing season so as to avoid any potential clashes with the polling dates.

“The Election Commission of India announced the schedule of General Elections so we now know the exact dates. The work is underway on the remainder fixtures and we are reworking some fixtures from the first draft to avoid clashes with polling dates,” IPL GC chairman Arun Dhumal told this website.

BCCI had released the fixtures for the first two weeks of IPL 2024 last month and also had a draft prepared for the rest of the season. With the polling dates confirmed, the draft was modified and the schedule is set to be made public.

CSK started their title defense with an impressive six-wicket win over RCB while last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans begin their campaign on Sunday when they host five-time champions Mumbai Indians.
