Go First update: Crisis-hit airline Go First announced on Wednesday (June 21) that its scheduled flight operations will remain cancelled until June 25 (Sunday) due to operational reasons. Previously, the airline had stated that operations would be cancelled until June 22 (Thursday). The cash-strapped carrier’s aircraft have been grounded since May 3.

In early May, Go First filed for bankruptcy at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and suspended its flight operations due to rising losses. These losses were primarily caused by delays in the delivery of Pratt and Whitney’s engines, resulting in the grounding of a portion of its fleet. The airline is hopeful for an immediate resolution and revival of operations.

“We regret to inform you that due to operational reasons, Go First flights scheduled until June 25, 2023, have been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the flight cancellations,” the airline stated in a tweet.

“We understand that the flight cancellations may have disrupted your travel plans, and we are committed to providing all the assistance we can,” it added.

“As you are aware, the company has filed an application for immediate resolution and revival of operations. We will be able to resume bookings shortly. We thank you for your patience,” the airline assured.

Reports suggest that the grounding of Go First flights has put pressure on airfares, especially on select routes where the now-grounded airline had a presence.
